The Anglican Diocese of Accra is currently holding the final session of its Twenty-Fifth Synod at the Anglican Retreat Centre, Ashalley Botwe, where clergy and lay delegates are gathered to deliberate on key issues affecting the Church’s growth, spirituality and administration.
The one-day Synod, which opened on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, has brought together about 320 participants from across the Diocese.
Presided over by the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Accra, the Rt Rev’d Dr Daniel Sylvanus Mensah Torto, the gathering will review the performance of the Diocese over the past triennium and consider policies that will guide its mission and administration going forward.
Key issues include a review of the Diocesan Evangelism Policy towards strengthening discipleship and outreach, the ratification of the proposed Music Ministry, as well as matters relating to finance, chaplaincy and other aspects of diocesan life.
The opening session was attended by the Ashalley Botwe Mantse, Nii Afutu Kotey Gbomosane II, highlighting the relationship between the Church and the traditional community. Bishop Torto expressed appreciation for the Mantse’s presence and support, and prayed for God’s wisdom and guidance upon him in his leadership.
As proceedings continue, the Synod is expected to provide direction for the next triennium. Its resolutions will be compiled in the Acta and Decisions of Synod, which will guide the Church’s governance and administration.
