At the final session of the Twenty-Fifth Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Accra, the house advised that the proposed gathering of young people should adopt a name other than “Youth Synod.”

A delegate raised concern that the constitutional provisions defining the composition and purpose of Synod might not permit the same designation for the proposed youth gathering. The matter was referred to the Chancellor of the Diocese, Justice Sophia Rosetta Bernasko-Essah.

The Chancellor advised that the concern was constitutionally well founded and recommended that a different name be adopted for the initiative.

Bishop Daniel Sylvanus Mensah Torto stressed that the purpose of the proposal remains unchanged: creating a recognised platform through which young people can elect representatives, deliberate on matters affecting the Church and contribute meaningfully to diocesan decision-making.
